As to so many people around the world, Christmas is a special holiday for folks in the Haitian community. It’s a time where they typically wear their best outfits, cook the best meals and take their kids out to enjoy festivities. Those who can afford it go shopping, travel or throw parties. Others may go to church or simply hang out at home. No matter the activity, one thing they have in common is the feeling of community during this season. Christmas is the time Haitians spend joyously with their family, friends, and neighbors.

We at YHS, Inc. want to make the Christmas season a little brighter for underpaid teachers at Institut Communautaire Lumière in Petion-Ville.  This will show appreciation for their hard work, patience, kindness, and passion for teaching the kids regardless of their pay. This form of recognition will show them that their efforts have not gone  unnoticed and that we appreciate them and are grateful for their support.

Our goal is to raise $1500 to support this endeavor for the 12 teachers at the school.  If you feel inclined to support us, please click here to donate.
